cactus leather

Crafted in Mexico Cactus leather is flexible, breathable and doesn't stain. Opposed to traditional cow leather which undergoes tanning and chemical treating processes, or faux leather that is constructed from polyester and will shed microplastics over time. The plant leather alternative uses less water and absorbs carbon dioxide. The process involves cutting the mature leaves of the cactus plant every 6 to 8 months which allows for approximately 8 years of new growth to occur. The leaves are then cleaned, mashed and dried for 3 days in the sun. The cactus is then mixed with non toxic chemicals and can be shaped into any texture or colour. The product's price is comparable to traditional leather and has the capacity to last up to 10 years. This not toxic cactus leather alternative is green just like the future.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the country on which we live on today, the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

Sovereignty has never been ceded. It always was and always will be, Aboriginal land. We recognise the past atrocities against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of this land and that Australia was founded on the genocide and dispossession of First Nations people.
