STSC's CircStretch collection finally replaces all toxic synthetic stretch fabrics.
STSC's revolutionary stretch fabric uses the world’s first Cradle To Cradle® Gold Standard Certified bio-stretch yarn ROICA™ V550 and blends with natural fibers to be ideal for activewear, athleisure, compression garments, swimwear, fashion and intimates plus sports equipment, home textiles and toys.
STSC blends the bio-stretch with GOTS organic cotton, GRS recycled cotton, TENCEL™ Modal and EcoVero™
NON TOXIC BIODEGRADABILITY + COMPOSTABILITY.
The innovative fabric is intended to extend the life cycle of garments and replace the need for toxic synthetic, stretch fabric in garments where stretch is required.
STSC's unique CircStretch collection has the ability to be safely composted, free of any toxic bi-products and breaks down within 5 years in industrial compost and microbiologically active compost. CircStretch delivers a premium, certified, degradable and safe end of life stretch textile.
BIODEGRADABILITY OF OUR YARN CHOICES:
96% to 65% of CircStretch is from natural fibres; wood pulp cellulose or cotton that can take 8-12 weeks to biodegrade in microbiologically active soil.

ROICA™ V550 is the premium, sustainable stretch yarn that degrades without releasing harmful substances into the environment, according to the Hohenstein’s environmental certification. ROICA™ V550 also carries the Gold Level Material Health certificate from the Cradle-to-Cradle Product Innovation Institute, which evaluated the yarn’s impact on human and environmental health.

ROICA V550 is the one and only degradable stretch.
The features are 1.) degradability under industrial composting conditions tested at OWS according to under ISO 14855-1 decomposing in CO2 and water.
2.) not releasing any harmful substances during its breaking down. Certified by the Hohenstein Institute as 100% non-toxic as it breaks down.
3) The end of life of ROICA V550 is still under examination. To date Asahi Kasi has tested and successfully broken down 55% of Roica V550 content in a garment (eg 4% to 35%) in 24 months leaving a prediction of 5 years. This test is ongoing.

Roica V550 is a eco high-tech yarn sourced from virgin synthetic polymers however is free of any toxic bi-products and will biodegrade in up to 5 years as opposed to 200+ years to mitigate emissions. At this stage there are no other solutions for stretch unless from a synthetic source; virgin and recycled.

This yarn is a pioneer in eco-circular stretch which end-of-life smartly breaks down without releasing harmful substances based on Hohenstein Environmental Compatibility Certificate, becoming nutrients for a continuous cycle. It is a world-first, Cradle to Cradle-Certified™ stretch(elastane) yarn with a Material Health Gold Level Certificate.
The features are that Roica V550 gives a premium stretch standard quality and performance and is technically created to biodegrade and ensure it leaves zero toxic plastic pollution in the environment.

Comparative stretch elastane promoted as sustainable rely on the recycled process eg "68% sustainable resource" to make the sustainability claim; eg Lycra recycled polymers however they still will take 200+ years to biodegrade leaving toxic plastic microfibre pollution, whereas Roica V550 will not.

Hohenstein Institute: The tested article was incubated for 360 days under outdoor field conditions in microbiologically active soil. Based on examinations of the for 360 days utilized soil in Luminescent bacteria test (following DIN EN ISO 11348-1), Daphnia test (following DIN EN ISO 6341), ELS test (following DIN EN ISO 15088) the tested article was rated as non-ecotoxic.

ISO STANDARD This method is designed to simulate typical aerobic composting conditions for the organic fraction of solid mixed municipal waste (which is why we encourage home composting in microbiologically active soil as landfill often remains dry and non-aerated). Under these conditions Roica V550 may take 5 years to breakdown safely back to soil.
